Dr. Stephen G. Hofmeir, BA, DC, MUAC, CSCS, DACBSP

Dr. Stephen Hofmeir graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College, Kansas City in April 2002. While at Cleveland College, Dr. Hofmeir maintained a high level of academic achievement by earning deans list honors all three years.  Upon graduation, Dr. Hofmeir was honored with several awards including: Who’s Who among America’s Colleges and Universities for his academic achievements, the clinic service award, for his integrity and commitment to patient care, and outstanding service as a teaching assistant in the department of radiology.

Before entering Chiropractic College, Dr. Hofmeir received his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. During his term at the University of Colorado, Dr. Hofmeir maintained his status as an Eisenhower-Evans scholar. The Eisenhower-Evan’s scholarship is the largest privately funded scholarship in the United States.  During his undergraduate education, Dr. Hofmeir gained valuable work experience in several fields of health care. Dr. Hofmeir’s health care experiences include working as a student trainer for the University of Colorado athletic department, and as a physical therapy assistant in a sports rehabilitation clinic.

Since graduation, Dr. Hofmeir has gained practical experience working as an associate in three prominent chiropractic practices in New Mexico and Arizona. In September of 2005, Dr. Hofmeir partnered with Dr. Nielson and founded West Valley Wellness & Rehabilitation PLLC.

Dr. Hofmeir has continued to pursue his academic achievements by attending several post graduate seminars on rehabilitation, nutrition and sports injuries. In 2007, Dr. Hofmeir became a member of the National Strength and Condition Association and passed their examination to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (C.S.C.S.). Dr. Hofmeir recently completed over 600 hours of post graduate training in sports medicine and in April of 2011, passed the rigorous written and practical examinations to achieve diplomat status from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (D.A.C.B.S.P.) Dr. Hofmeir is certified to perform manipulation under anesthesia (M.U.A.C.), and is one of a few chiropractors in the state who has hospital staff privileges, and routinely performs manipulation under anesthesia procedures.

In addition to full time chiropractic practice, Dr. Hofmeir provides on site sports medicine coverage for many sports originations, teams, and events.  Dr. Hofmeir currently serves as the team physician and strength coach for the Arizona Redhawks Junior Hockey Club. Dr. Hofmeir is the team chiropractor for Desert Edge High School athletics and provides coverage at games and practices throughout the school year.  In August of 2009, Dr. Hofmeir was selected for a two week sports medicine rotation at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.  While at the Olympic Training Center, Dr. Hofmeir was able to treat world class athletes in the sports medicine clinic, and provide emergency medical care during practices and competitions.  In 2010, Dr. Hofmeir was invited back to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California to serve as the team physician for the team USA soccer training camp. Dr. Hofmeir has provided sports medicine coverage for the South West Section of the PGA and has treated golf professionals at section tournaments including the Arizona Open and the Arizona Senior Open.  Currently, Dr. Hofmeir works with the PGA Tour medical staff. Dr. Hofmeir travels to several PGA Tour events each year to provide chiropractic and physiotherapy treatment to the top professional golfers in the world.

Dr. Hofmeir resides in Litchfield Park with his wife Suzanne. Dr. Hofmeir enjoys the outdoors and participates in several recreational activities including hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding. Dr Hofmeir is an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. In addition to his sporting interests, Dr. Hofmeir also enjoys volunteering at his church and spending time with his family


Dr. Jason C. Nielson, BS, DC, FICPA, MUAC, NASM-CES

Dr. Nielson was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Nielson is an Eagle Scout and graduated from Mt. View High School in 1995 and later attended Central Arizona College, and Pima Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Athletic Training & Sports Medicine and served a mission for his church to Ventura California.

At the age of 20 Dr. Nielson presented and published two articles at the Third Annual Arizona Athletic Trainers’ Association (AZATA) on “Spinal Assessment of the Athlete” and “Athletic Spinal Injury working with Emergency Personal”. Dr. Nielson’s health care experiences started at Central Arizona College while working as a trainer for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Softball and Track and Field. Due to the long distance Central Arizona College was from the local hospital, Central Arizona College covered his training expenses to become the team’s onsite EMT. Waiting his starting date at Parker College of Chiropractic, Dr. Nielson volunteered his time to Southern Arizona Search and Rescue (S.A.R.A) and to the University of Arizona Sports Medicine Staff for home track and field tournaments.

In September of 2002 Dr. Nielson received his Bachelors of Science in Human Anatomy and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. While in chiropractic school, Dr. Nielson was President of Parker Colleges Pediatric Club, the Sports Council Club, and Vice President of the Neurology Club. In December of 2002 Dr. Nielson completed and received his Fellowship training from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (FICPA).

Dr. Nielson received his chiropractic license in Arizona and began practice in January 2003 in Mesa, Arizona. With a clinical practice in Alternative Medicine, Dr. Nielson saw patients with chronic un-resolved spinal and extremity pain, neurological degenerative disorders, Metabolic Syndrome, and autoimmune diseases. This led him to speak locally on the subject of nutritional neurology. Since beginning clinical practice Dr. Nielson has spoken locally and nationally on Laser Therapeutics in Pain Management, Neurology, and a Wellness Approach to Health.

In September of 2005 Dr. Nielson completed his manipulation under anesthesia certification (MUAC). At the age of 28 Dr. Nielson is the youngest physician in Arizona to be appointed to be Chief of Chiropractic Staff at Arizona Surgical Specialists Center in Tempe, AZ and have Hospital privileges. Dr. Nielson is currently waiting to sit to be Board Certified in Pain Management, and is currently completing his Diplomat in Chiropractic Neurology, and completed is fellowship in the International American Medical Acupuncture (FIAMA). Dr. Nielson has just been awarded Diplomat from the American Academy of Spine Physicians (DAASP); he is the first one in the state of AZ to receive this status. Dr. Nielson has passed the National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Specialists exam (CES). He also is certified as a Registered Orthopedic Tech (ROT) as well as a Clinical Sports Nutritionist (CSN).

As well as being involved in full time practice, Dr. Nielson provides sports medicine services to many sports organizations, teams and events. Some of the events include; Arizona Ironman Triathlon and the Suzan G. Koman three day Breast Cancer Walk. Dr. Nielson is a member of the Desert Edge High School Sports Medicine Staff and provides coverage at games and practices throughout the school year. Dr. Nielson has completed the Tolleson Citizen Police Academy and is currently writing articles and working with the Tolleson, Phoenix, and Avondale Police Departments as well as S.W.A.T. on a programs that is designed for “Training the Tactical Athlete”, for conditioning and prevention of back pain by increasing performance. He has also finished his Tactical Strength and Conditioning Certification (TSAC). This allows Dr. Nielson to design real life Functional Training scenarios for our officers. Dr. Nielson is also a CPR and first-aid instructor.

In September of 2005, Dr. Nielson partnered with Dr. Hofmeir and founded West Valley Wellness & Rehabilitation PLLC.

In Dr. Nielson’s free time he likes to get outdoors and hikes and spend as much time as he can with his family. Dr. Nielson enjoys reading books and learning as much as he can in all aspects of study. Dr. Nielson also volunteers in the community with his church and with a local Boy Scout Troop. Dr. Nielson lives locally with his wife, and two sons’ and little girl.
